You may have some wrong information about the first Rajput graduates from Mewar state. The thakur sahibs of Kankarwa (which you refer to as Kakarwa) had 3 graduates in their family around the same time:
ReplyDelete1)Mahendra Singh Ranawat, BA,LLB, MP (born 1893)
2) Justice Jawan Singh Ranawat, BA,LLB,LLM (born 1895)who was the Chief Justice of Rajasthan 1960-63
3) Bhawani Singh Ranawat, BA,LLB, RAS (born 1907) who was the first RAS of Rajasthan state with 7 departments under him (along with Balwant Rai Mehta). He passed away in 1957 as Commissioner of Udaipur.
As you can see, the Kankarwa thakurs were pretty progressive educationally. These people had certainly graduated before Lal Singhji. Even before this generation, Rawat Udai Singhji was a matriculate from Calcutta University & had topped that examination in the 1870s.
The Kankarwa family menber's you have mentioned were junior to Lal Singhji's in College at Agra. Lal Singhji completed his BA in 1915.
ReplyDeleteAnd you may be right about that. Jagat Niwas is right next to Kankarwa Haveli (Sankhlon ki Haveli) on Lal Ghat, Udaipur.
